Moving Us Forward – Fifty Years On: From Civil Rights to Critical Engagement

ERCC 2014 Conference Registration is now open!

Call for Proposals

ERCC invites 2014 conference workshop and poster session proposals that address the conference theme and one or more of the goals below.

The mission of this conference is to advance institutional and community engagement for the public good. This year’s conference brings higher education stakeholders together to advance critical engagement while highlighting the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act. Woven throughout institutes, workshops, poster sessions, panels, and keynote addresses, ERCC will honor those who have struggled for equity and recommit ourselves to promote critical engagement toward a more just and democratic society.

Conference Goals:
1. Galvanize community – campus partnerships for collective impact.
2. Promote twenty-first century knowledge making for healthy communities.
3. Build diverse democracies on and off campus.

Workshop and poster proposals should demonstrate a high level of interactivity by suggesting to participants the kinds of questions that they can expect the session to address. Consider the following framing questions.

  • How can campus-community partnerships substantively advance civil rights in the 21st century?
  • What key strategies create new knowledge and support strong, healthy communities?
  • What practices and policies result in inclusive, resilient democracies on campus and with/in community?

Please get involved in the conversation by perusing the content, plenaries, powerpoint, prezi’s and other resources from the 2011, 2012, and 2013 conferences that support community engaged scholarship and address myriad other facets of the Carnegie Classification.

Eastern Region Campus Compact channels, spotlights, and challenges the strengths of higher education across the United States. ERCC is dedicated to Moving Us Forward in fulfilling the civic mission of higher education. ERCC has identified a special focus, however, on strengthening institutional cultures and aligning institutional incentives to be consonant with the aspirations of the Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement.
